Arrest Made in Minnesota Fentanyl Overdose That Killed Teen Woman
Duluth, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have arrested a woman suspected of dealing the fentanyl that killed an 18-year-old Minnesota woman this past summer.
That’s according to a news release issued by the Duluth Police Department Thursday morning. The arrest was made on Wednesday.
The news release identifies the suspected drug dealer as 20-year-old Allyson Sheffield. She was booked into the St. Louis County Jail shortly after 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of third-degree murder and third-degree controlled substance crime.
Police say the 18-year-old victim lost her life at a residence in Duluth on June 18. Officers who responded to the overdose and reported finding crushed blue powder and a blue M30 pill that both tested positive for fentanyl.
An autopsy attributed the young woman’s death to fentanyl toxicity. The investigation determined that Sheffield delivered the pills to the woman the night before her death.
Sheffield is also suspected of selling drugs to other residents in Duluth, the news release says. Sheffield is awaiting her first court appearance.
