(Update: Friday, March 14, 3:19 PM) The national Weather Service in Sioux Falls has updated the watch to a Winter Weather Advisory from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday with winds packing a punch with 55 mph winds. A nearby Winter Storm Warning has been added to Moody County - which includes Brookings.

(Thursday, March 13, 4:35 PM) A Winter Storm Watch has been issued a large area of southeastern South Dakota from Friday night to Saturday night. Did someone say this always happens during state high school basketball championships? Right again.

The National Weather Service is calling for blizzard conditions and winds gusting to 45 to 55 mph. The amount of snow stands at about 2-4 inches. Of course these are early predictions and things may change. March is always a little unpredictable in South Dakota.

The updated counties include Kingsbury-Miner-Lake-Hanson-McCook-Minnehaha-Hutchinson-Turner-Lincoln.

The national Weather Service also says to plan on slippery conditions, and ice glaze possible, and reduced visibility along with strong winds.
