Movie Actor C. Thomas Howell Visits Sioux Falls Students to Encourage Reading
Actor C. Thomas Howell stopped at George McGovern Middle School in Sioux Falls on Wednesday. According to Sioux Falls Live, Howell visited with the 7th graders and talked about the book The Outsiders by SE Hinton, which several students have read in their young academic careers.
The classic piece of literature, published in 1967, has been required reading in several schools, and teachers lead classroom discussions to find out what kids have learned from it.

In The Outsiders movie, Howell co-starred with Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, and Rob Lowe.
The first film I saw that starred Howell was The Hitcher with Jennifer Jason Leigh. It was about a young travelling couple who were terrorized by a madman stalker played by Rutger Hauer. It was one of the films that put a spotlight on Howell's talent. He went on to star in The Amazing Spiderman and Red Dawn.

One of his latest films is 'Ride', which is about a rodeo star. It's a great drama and a wonderful cinematic gem. It has a South Dakota feel that will go down as one of your new favorites.
