Don’t Read This If You Plan to Drive Drunk This Holiday
It's the holidays. It's festive, filled with friends and family, and more than likely, a few drinks. There will be drunk driving arrests in South Dakota, but the question is...will you be one of them?
If you're still reading this, good for you. Here are a few facts that everyone should be aware of this holiday season.

How much can a DUI cost?
Legal representation is very expensive. $5,000 or more is not uncommon. But that's just the start.

Then this will most likely happen:
You'll be sentenced to jail.
You'll be placed on probation.
You may be required to complete DUI school to have your license reinstated.
You may be required to install an ignition interlock device (IID) in your vehicle. An IID is a breathalyzer that prevents the car from starting if the driver has been drinking.
A DUI conviction will appear on your criminal record which makes it difficult to get future jobs and opportunities.
If that still doesn't wake us up, there's these 2024 statistics from the South Dakota Department of Highway Safety.
Let's be safe, find a ride, and have a great holiday season!
