Dollar Tree's 75 Store Closures And What It Means Locally

A national retail chain with ten Sioux Falls locations has announced plans to close a significant number of stores for a shocking reason.

Dollar Tree says it is committed to shuttering 75 locations by the end of 2026. The company says the closures are necessary because the stores in question are 'substandard.'

That isn't stopping the chain from expanding. Dollar Tree has plans to add 400 new stores in the next several months.

No official timetable or exact locations have been issued for the closures. Currently, Dollar Tree operates ten stores in Sioux Falls:

3130 West 12th Street
507 West 41st Street
3809 East 10th Street
2536 South Lorraine Place
3700 North Northview Avenue
1001 South Highline Place
3801 West 49th Street
5000 South Rateliff Avenue
213 West 85th Street
8200 West Purdue Place

The Chesapeake, Virginia-based chain began in Sumter, South Carolina in 1989. It currently operates more than 15,000 stores in the United States and Canada.
