Sioux Falls Road Construction News For 12th and 41st Streets
Motorists and pedestrians in Sioux Falls should prepare for upcoming road construction projects that will impact travel on East 12th Street and West 41st Street during June.
Beginning Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the intersection of East 12th Street and Mable Avenue will be closed to allow crews to complete curb ramp repairs.
During the closure, motorists will be detoured to 11th Street, while pedestrians will be directed to use either 11th Street or 13th Street.
Weather permitting, the project is expected to take approximately three to four weeks to complete.
In addition, lane and sidewalk closures are scheduled along West 41st Street beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Westbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane between Louise Avenue and Interstate 29 while Friessen Construction performs water utility improvements.
Drivers are encouraged to consider alternate routes, including the 49th Street, Louise Avenue, and 26th Street corridors, to help avoid delays.
Pedestrian access will also be affected along 41st Street.
The north sidewalk will be closed from Shirley Avenue to Interstate 29, with foot traffic detoured to the south sidewalk.
The utility work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day on June 15, 2026, weather permitting.
City officials remind drivers to exercise caution, reduce speeds, and stay alert when traveling through construction zones.
Planning ahead and using alternate routes when possible can help minimize delays and improve safety for both workers and the traveling public during these important infrastructure improvements.
