Hunger Never Takes a Holiday—You Can Help At the Banquet
The Importance of Giving Back This Summer
Summer is a season when a lot of us take some time away from our everyday lives. A little vacation from what can be, for some - the daily grind.
Unfortunately, hunger never takes a vacation. It exists throughout the seasons, days, months, and years, and without the kindness of volunteers, the need would never be met.

Dakota News Now reports that the Banquet has a huge need for volunteers right now due to many regular volunteers taking summer vacations. Chris Jacob, who is the Volunteer and Marketing Coordinator for the Banquet, says there are so many ways for people to help.
Volunteer Opportunities at The Banquet
Whether you'd like to be a token giver or taker, a dishwasher, or a server on the food line, or at the drink station, they can use your help. There are also many other ways, outside of the food service, that you can be of assistance, too.
The Banquet relies on volunteers to man their front desk Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. You'd be answering phones, sorting mail, and assisting guests with questions. You might be interested in helping with data entry; this is another area where you could be a great help.
The Banquet also hosts special events throughout the year, like Project S.O.S., Run for the Banquet, and Chilifest, where they need large numbers of volunteers too.

Family Volunteering: A Meaningful Activity for All Ages
You could even make volunteering a family activity, because kids under 16 can be volunteers, as long as they have adult supervision.
So maybe this summer, you could use some of your vacation time serving friends and neighbors who really need you. Consider volunteering at either of the Banquet locations - downtown at 900 E. 8th Street, or on the west side at 710 North Marion Road. You'll find more information online at the Banquet, or call 605-335-7066.
