While all the construction going on in Sioux Falls right now might be a pain in the tailpipe and seem like a real-life obstacle course for most motorists, especially when it's happening during peak traffic times on the city's busiest streets, the city is making real progress in knocking out its construction projects and fixing the city's many potholes.

All of those tire-threatening craters are slowly but surely disappearing throughout Sioux Falls.

According to Dakota News Now, the City of Sioux Falls is making major strides this spring when it comes to road construction and pothole repair. And believe it or not, a big reason for that progress is you. Especially when it comes to patching up the many potholes lining Sioux Falls city streets this spring. Sioux Falls Street Operations Manager Dustin Hansen says multiple crews are out daily, tackling pothole repairs across the city. From busy stretches like 41st Street and Minnesota Avenue to those sneaky neighborhood roads that quietly destroy your car's alignment, crews are working to smooth things out as quickly as possible.

The progress being made is due in part to the secret weapon known as the City of Sioux Falls app.

When residents report potholes using the app, it gives repair crews precise locations, especially in those less-traveled areas that might otherwise be missed. Adding a description or even a photo helps crews come prepared. After all, there’s a big difference between a “small bump” and a pothole that's almost big enough to swallow up a Kia!
