Welcome to Izzi's Con: A New Family Tradition

A new family-focused convention is arriving in Sioux Falls this Saturday, bringing gaming, collectibles, crafts, and plenty of free activities under one roof at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

The first-ever Izzi's Con is taking over the Sioux Falls Convention Center on Saturday, July 18, courtesy of Izzi's Gym, which describes itself as "part game store, part clubhouse, all community". They want to bring together gamers, collectors, families, and anyone looking for a day packed with fun - all without spending a dime.

Running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the brand-new convention is completely free. Izzi’s Con hopes to create a new annual tradition while making sure cost isn’t a barrier for families looking for something to do.

Exciting Activities for Everyone!

Think giant inflatables, retro video games, Pokémon and trading card tournaments, Beyblade battles, crafts, face painting, dancing demonstrations, a live reptile exhibit, and dozens of vendors selling collectibles, toys, games, and unique finds.

Another cool feature at Izzi's Con is the 6 major YouTube creators that will be guesting at the convention. You'll be able to meet them, ask them questions, learn from them, and find out what it takes to make it in the world of content creation. Plus, you can get free autographs and photos with them

Whether you're a longtime collector or just looking for something fun to do with the family, there will be plenty to explore.

One of the biggest attractions of the day? Organizers say they'll be giving away one million Pokémon cards, making sure kids leave with something special to remember the event.

A Community Event for All Ages

The event is being hosted by Izzi's Gym, South Dakota's largest trading card and collectibles store. Organizers say they've already handed out roughly 12,000 free tickets, hoping to fill the convention center and kick off what they envision becoming an annual Sioux Falls tradition.

While kids are the main focus, adults won't be left out. From retro arcade games and trading card competitions to shopping the vendor floor for rare collectibles, or showing off your cosplay costume,  there's something for every generation to enjoy.

The best part? Admission won't cost you a thing.

Free tickets are available at Izzi's Gym, 807 N. Lake Avenue, and everyone is welcome. If you've been looking for an affordable family outing - or you've got a Pokémon fan, gamer, cosplayer, or collector in the house - this might just be one of the biggest events of the summer.

Weirdest Tourist Traps Even the Locals Love in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa

I don't know if everyone will agree with the writers at Thrillist Travelabout which tourist attractions are the weirdest in the tri-state area.

I mean there are so many strange things to see when you travel. From giant pheasants and fish to giant balls of twine, there's no shortage of kooky, kitsch in the tri-state area.
