Sioux Falls Stores That Might Be Open Christmas Day
If you somehow still haven’t hit your personal Christmas shopping quota, and the thought of wandering a department store aisle on Christmas Day sounds appealing, you’re not alone.
Maybe you’re a certified shopaholic who treats retail therapy like a competitive sport. Or maybe you need a strategic escape from the relatives who’ve been camped out on your couch since Tuesday. Either way, there is some good news: a handful of stores in the Sioux Falls area may actually be open on Christmas Day.
Before you sprint out the door clutching your VISA card like it’s the last lifeboat on the Titanic, it’s important to do a little homework. Not every location keeps the same hours, and nothing kills the holiday spirit faster than pulling into a dark parking lot with a locked door and a handwritten “Closed for Christmas” note staring you in the face on the front door.

Your safest bet is to call ahead or check store hours online before you attempt any Christmas Day shopping adventures.
According to Dakota News Now, Walgreens stores will be open on Christmas Day, although pharmacy hours may vary by location. Any Walgreens that normally operates 24 hours will remain open, which is excellent news if you need snacks, batteries, or a last-minute box of tissues after watching one too many holiday tear-jerkers.
Some Starbucks locations may also be open with limited hours, though most will be closed. Translation: call first before attempting a Christmas Day White Chocolate Mocha run.
A few McDonald’s locations may be open as well, but again, double-check before attempting to load up your sleigh with Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, and fries on Christmas Day.
Keep in mind, major retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Costco, Sam’s Club, etc. will all be closed so employees can enjoy the holiday with family and friends.

So if Santa missed the memo on what you actually wanted, just hang tight until the crack of dawn on December 26, when the sacred ritual of returning novelty socks, soap-on-a-rope, and strangely suspicious underwear gifts officially gets underway.
