Step Out For ALS And Support Local Families This Weekend
Walk to Defeat ALS Coming to Sertoma Park September 20th
On Saturday, September 20th, Sertoma Park in Sioux Falls will be filled with hope, encouragement, and community spirit. The annual Walk to Defeat ALS brings together families, friends, and neighbors to support those living with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
ALS is a progressive disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness and, over time, the loss of the ability to move, speak, and breathe. There is currently no cure, but events like the Walk to Defeat ALS raise critical funds to provide care, spread awareness, and fuel research.

Participants of all ages are invited to join the walk. Some come to honor a loved one, others walk in memory, and many walk simply to support the cause. Every step taken helps bring hope to families facing ALS.
Registration is free, and walkers are encouraged to form teams or join one of the many already signed up. Donations are also a huge part of the event. Money raised stays local, helping provide services for families in South Dakota, while also supporting national research to one day find a cure.
Even if you can’t attend in person, you can still make an impact. Donations can be made online, and every dollar counts.
I'll be helping out with a sound system and some of the MC chores that morning. I hope to see you Saturday Morning! JD
The Walk to Defeat ALS is more than just an event—it’s a chance to stand together, show support, and fight back against a devastating disease.
