A South Dakota family is once again fighting to be reunited after a new father and husband has been detained by ICE. But this isn't the first encounter with ICE for this Yankton, South Dakota man.

This past February, we shared the story of Nate Samudzi when he and his wife went on a trip to celebrate the birth of their first child. During their travels, Nate was suddenly detained by ICE while deboarding a plane in St. Louis.

Nate's family and loved ones have been sharing Nate's journey on social media as he continues his path on making the USA his permanent home. He's been following all the required steps since his February detainment. This includes remaining in South Dakota, checking in regularly with ICE, and allowing home visits.

Unfortunately, one of Nate Samudzi's regular check-in appointments was anything but ordinary.

Nate's sister-in-law Stephanie Hirsch shared a shocking Facebook post reveling that Nate was once again taken by ICE. It appears that Nate was trapped into this meeting.

Nate was contacted by his ICE case manager and told he needed to come in today for a check-in to discuss a change in his program. At a previous visit, there had been discussion about moving him to yearly check-ins, so he believed this was simply the next step in that process.
Instead, when Nate arrived for his check-in this morning, he was taken into ICE custody and within hours was being transported to an immigration detention facility

Was Nate Transported Out of The United States?

Currently, Nate Samudzi is at an immigration detention facility in Minnesota. The good news is a judge stepped in to halt Nate's deportation within minutes by granting him a Temporary Restraining Order. This will allow Nate to stay in the States while his case moves through the court system.

At this time, we do not have any new updates on Nate's case. He remains detained in Minnesota. While we desperately want him home, we are incredibly grateful that the Temporary Restraining Order allows him to remain in the United States while his case continues through the courts.
We want to continue to ask for your help. Please keep reaching out to your state representatives and asking them to intervene on Nate's behalf. Every call, email, and message helps bring attention to his situation and reminds those in a position to help that Nate has a family and a community standing behind him.
We know this is a long road, and we will continue to fight to bring Nate home.

Nate and Sydney Samudzi have felt love from their community in Yankton and around the Sioux Empire during this painful time.

Remember... family is forever through good times and bad. All this South Dakota family wants is to be reunited. Let's hope this happens sooner rather than later.
