Local South Dakota Walmart Store To Soon Add New Dunkin' Shop

I don't ask for much in life. But if I had one wish for Sioux Falls, it would be to have a local Dunkin' in town. Unfortunately, another South Dakota city will be living my dream.

The mayor of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Travis Schaunaman, recently announced that a new Dunkin' store will soon open inside the local Walmart. Who's ready for a road trip?!

In an exciting Facebook post on Monday morning, Mayor Travis Schaunaman tells residents that a new Dunkin' will be opening in town soon. Can you tell how jealous I am!

Adding a local Dunkin' shop in South Dakota is a big deal. This would be the big Dunkin' comeback in South Dakota since Sioux Falls had one up until the early 2000s.

So Where Is The Closest Dunkin' Near Sioux Falls Located?

Believe it or not, the closest Dunkin' shop near Sioux Falls is not in Aberdeen. You can get to the closest Dunkin' store to Sioux Falls in Holstein, Iowa. It's at a local rest stop about an hour and a half away from Sioux Falls.

I've been a Sioux Falls resident for almost eight years now (I know time flies), and I ask for a Dunkin' every time I talk with Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken. So, Mayor TenHaken, you have about six months left in office. Do you think we can get a deal done with Dunkin'?

Gone But Not Forgotten - Iconic Sioux Falls: Whiffer's Sandwiches

The Merriam-Webster definition of iconic is "widely recognized and well-established." That would definitely describe Whiffer's Sandwiches which used to call North Minnesota Avenue home.

The gone but not forgotten sandwich shop was located in an old house at 1133 North Minnesota Avenue. It served sandwiches to Sioux Falls from November 1978 until the summer of 2020.
