Sioux Falls has many attractions for residents and visitors to enjoy, like exploring the animals at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History. It's one of the wildest places in town with familiar faces to say hello to. Unfortunately, there will be a missing friend at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History upon your next visit.

Officials at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History recently announced the passing of the beloved Arctic Fox named Rehn. Rehn joined her brother Archie at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History in 2016. Archie also passed away just last year.

The Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History made the heart-breaking announcement in a Facebook post late last week. In the Facebook post, the staff shared with its zoo patrons they had to make the "difficult decision to humanely euthanize her." Rehn was suffering from kidney failure.

Officials with the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History explain that Rehn's condition was just getting worse over time. They did not want her to suffer any more pain.

Rehn has been under close medical surveillance during the past year, due to worsening kidney disease. In recent weeks, her condition deteriorated significantly, and the GPZ Veterinary team made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize her.

Rehn was extremely close to her brother Archie. These two were so loved by the staff and visitors of the Great Plains Zoo. They will be dearly missed in the Sioux Empire.
