Sioux Falls Dog Finds New Home After Almost 100 Days in Shelter
After dreaming about starting a new life, a beloved South Dakota dog with the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society finally has a "fur-"ever home!
Hammy was living with a loving foster family, but he knew that was only a temporary home. The goal for any animal with the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society is to find a permanent home, and Hammy finally got his wish.

Hammy was under Sioux Falls Area Humane Society's care for over 90 days. Hammy's ideal family? Hammy was looking for a new best friend and someone who loves his "goofy self" as much as he'll love them!
Hammy's foster home helped him learn some basic skills and unlocked a new personality. He's an adventure seeker with a big heart.
I LOVE adventures. Take me on a hike? Yes, please. A long walk? I’m in! Road trip? Shotgun! I’ve also discovered that I’m best suited for an adult family or older, confident kids—just because my big personality isn't for everyone sometimes
I talked with staff at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society and they were happy to report that a Sioux Empire family did adopt Hammy at long last!
We are just happy that Hammy boy finally found his new home. He is a sweet boy.
So far 730 animals have been adopted this year at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. Unfortunately, Hammy's long journey is not the first and won't be the last for many Sioux Empire pets at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. You can support the mission at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society by attending this year's Paws to Celebrate at The District. It's the organization's biggest fundraiser of the year. For this year's event, there will be an after-party called "Paws After Dark." It's a great way to win prizes and donate to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society! More details can be found here.
Congratulations to Hammy and his new family!
