Then There Were 2 – Closures Leave Only 2 TGI Fridays in Missouri

I remember a time when nearly every major city and town in Missouri had a TGI Fridays. How the mighty have fallen as only 2 locations remain open in the state after the brand shut down many restaurants in the chain.

Without looking, how many TGI Fridays do you think are left in America? I would bet that your guess would be higher than the real number. I was truly surprised when earlier this week CNN showed that after TGI Fridays shut down many restaurants after bankruptcy, that only 85 remain in America. There are very few of those that are still open for business in Missouri.

Where are the TGI Fridays in Missouri now?

According to TGI Fridays own store locator page, there are only 2 Missouri restaurants remaining. You have this one in Columbia, Missouri just off of I-70.

The other TGI Fridays in Missouri is in St. Charles on 1st Capital Drive.

There's an interesting perspective on the struggles and hopefully comeback of TGI Fridays on Cheapism today. They say that the new CEO wants to lean hard into the nostalgia of the chain instead of trying to make it more appealing to the new generation. Since I'm one of the many in the nostalgia segment, I am a fan of that strategy. Let's hope it's successful enough that we can see a return to the time when there was a TGI Fridays in every part of Missouri.
