Missouri Drowning Leads to National Pool Recall
There is an urgent recall of an above-ground pool after a flaw in the design has resulted in children being able to access the pool when they shouldn't. There have been several reports of drownings including one incident in Missouri.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has just issued an urgent recall of this pool created by Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup. The pools to look out for are 48-inch and taller above-ground pools with compression straps running on the outside and over the vertical support legs. The problem is that some of these compression straps provide a foothold where children can gain access to the pool without supervision.
The bulletin says that "nine children between the ages of 22 months and 3 years old have drowned after gaining access to the pools via the footholds. The incidents occurred in California, Texas, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin and Missouri between 2007 and 2022."

There are numerous pool models affected by this recall and it's vital that you not continue use if children have access to one of these pools. Make sure to check the official USCPSC bulletin for more details and potential updates.
