Taco Delight – Fantastic Tacos In Superior Weren’t From A Mexican Restaurant

I had a crazy, hectic day last Friday. I had a bunch of work projects I needed to finish up before the weekend, so I was a little stressed. It didn't help that I kept running into roadblocks and small inconveniences throughout the day, which made it even more frustrating. The highlight of my day and probably what saved my sanity was a terrific lunch I had at a new place.

I had a service appointment at Kari Toyota in Superior, Wisconsin. It was around lunch time so I decided I would try Havana's restaurant which is right across the street.

I walked in and was seated immediately. The service was super fast and I had my beverage in probably under 2 minutes. I looked over the menu. It's a Cuban restaurant and to be honest, I think it's the only Cuban restaurant I've been to.

Obviously the first choice would be to try a Cuban. They have a variety of different ones that sounded pretty good.

But, since I'm gluten free I decided on trying some tacos because they offered them with corn tortillas. Perfect! I ordered the Ropa Vieja. It features shredded beef, cotija cheese, white onion, avocado crema, cilantro, and a lime wedge.

I'm not kidding when I say it came out in 5 minutes. And oh my gosh was it good.

The beef was perfectly cooked. Moist but not too wet, seasoned wonderfully and very tender. The combination of the cotija cheese and avocado crema elevated this to "the feels" level when eating.

I don't think I can wait for my next service appointment for lunch there again. It will be the next place my wife and I go on date night.
