Is This ‘This Is Us’ Moment a Nod to Mandy Moore’s Past?

This Is Us has become 'the' show of the moment. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll throw out your crock pot. And with any popular show, fan theories get a little out of hand.

The last couple episodes have really been heartbreaking for This Is Us fans. And due to this heartbreak, fans keep pointing out little nuggets of coincidence from the episodes.

I was not the first to notice this, but think it is worth mentioning.

SPOILERS:

For example, Mandy Moore plays Rebecca Pearson, the mom. When she leaves her husband, Jack, alone in the hospital, she goes to the vending machine to get candy. While she is getting candy, her husband dies.

Mandy Moore had a hit single called "Candy" in 1999. In the song, Mandy sings, "I'm missing you like candy."

Rebecca will definitely miss Jack!

Is your mind blown yet?

No whether or not the writers did that on purpose or it was just a coincidence, I don't think we will ever know.

On a personal note, I always thought it would be neat if on the show, Rebecca/Mandy Moore's kids, were listening to "Candy" on the radio or something since they are growing up during the time of Mandy's debut. But, maybe this is as close as we will get.
