Mother Nature has been teasing us here in southeast Minnesota. Temps reached 40 in some areas over the weekend which helped some of the ice and snow melt away. Don't put your shovel away just yet though.

The National Weather Service just posted, "Confidence is increasing for an impactful winter storm later this week."  See which areas will be impacted and what to expect below.

Heavy Snow Is In The Forecast for Parts of Iowa and Minnesota

Activities could be impacted on Wednesday and Thursday and travel could become difficult and dangerous.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines, Iowa, says there is "a potential winter storm is expected to impact much of the state beginning early Wednesday and lasting until early Thursday morning."

The weather team at the NWS says, "The highest snowfall amounts are expected to be in portions of central and northern Iowa."

The southern portion of Iowa will get rain and/or mixed precipitation.

Here's What to Expect In Southern Minnesota

The National Weather Service is waiting to forecast snowfall totals, but the Weather Channel says southeast Minnesota will get heavy snow Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

The Weather Channel says there's a 90% chance of snow Wednesday evening with 3 to 5 inches possible in southeast Minnesota. An additional inch is possible on Thursday.
