But, with the exception of the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight movies, DC has been poorly represented in live action movies. There have been several great animated movies and TV series and some recent live action success on TV, but nothing else that captured the world in an exciting way.

When it came to the movies, I fell in love with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I've been down since the first Iron Man. I was a little familiar with the characters, so maybe I didn't have a bunch of baggage going in. Plus, the movies have all been very well done so far. I even liked the Incredible Hulk move.

So, I've had low to no expectations for the new slate of DC moves being any good. I have yet to watch Man of Steel. But, that has all changed thanks to Comic-Con 2015 where they premiere of two movie trailers that have me very excited.

First is the direct sequel to Man of Steel, Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Yes, yes, it's the Ben Afleck Batman, but maybe, just maybe, it looks like he can pull it off. What I really like is the tone and what seems to be the overall idea of the movie. The film looks like it will be exploring what it would be like in the early 21st century if an alien really did appear on earth with super powers. How would the world react, who would use him, fear him, worship him? The trailer promises a dark, cynical and gritty version of our heroes. And we get our first look at Wonder Woman in action!

If the movie can deliver on what the trailer advertises, 2016 will be a good movie year.

The other trailer that clinched the deal for me is for Suicide Squad. I'm not as violently flummoxed as some internet nerds about the Jared Leto Joker. I like the looks so far, and it seems to fit into the DC movie world that Warner Brothers is creating. Like all good nerd boys I have a crush on Harley Quin and look forward to seeing her. Again the tone of the trailer is what is igniting my excitement for 2016. The tone and the Bee Gees song in the trailer.

Now I have to sit down and watch Man of Steel.
