If You Want to Impress Someone, You Should Never Lie About These Nine Things
Everyone has been known to tell a 'little white lie', especially if you are trying to impress a significant other. But according to a book called "The New Single" by Emmy award winner, TV personality and producer Tamsen Fadal, telling a small fib to make a great impression with the hopes of taking a relationship to the next level, is the wrong thing to do!
Fadal says even though it may be tempting to lie about some things to make yourself sound better, that is not a good idea! Fadal also states that sometimes telling a small fib might be considered a good thing with certain topics, but there are nine things that someone should NEVER lie about!

- 1
Age
It might sound like a good idea to shave a couple years off of your age when trying to impress someone, however, Fadal says, "No!" Eventually, keeping track of the numbers will catch up with you, and then the truth will come out.
- 2
Your Job
Fadal is quick to point out that lying about having a career (when you don't) or even just a job (when you don't), is never a good idea! Remember, it can be embarrassing to have someone show up at an office looking for you, only to find out that you have never worked there. When talking about jobs, tell the truth about the job that you have, not one that you dream of having, or one that you may have recently applied for.
- 3
Your True Relationship Status
Someone trying to start a new relationship with someone else should never say they are single, when they aren't; especially if the word DIVORCE is in the conversation. Fadal is quick to remind people that divorce means the papers are signed and the deal is done, not "I'm living with someone and we are talking about seperating".
- 4
Pets
Pets are never something you should lie about! After all, if you finally get that "someone special" to come over to your house, little Fido or Fluffy can't be locked in that closet forever!
- 5
Height or Body Type
Fadal says that unless you plan on never seeing each other in person, lying about your height or body type doesn't work. Eventually, if you want the relationship to work, you will have to see each other face to face!
- 6
Interests
Please don't lie about liking something, when in reality, it's the last thing you would ever want to do! For example, Fadal says that if camping is your thing, be honest. Because if your idea of camping is roughing it in the woods with no electricity and peeing behind a tree, and the person you are trying to impress calls staying in a 3 star hotel compared to a 5 star hotel camping, it's not going to work.
- 7
Roomates
Making ends meet might include having to have a roommate to help make that end of the month rent payment. But, Fadal says it might be a bit of a surprise if you go back to your place and there is someone else sitting on the sofa watching a 'Breaking Bad' marathon on TV. (Unless you like 'Breaking Bad'.)
- 8
If You Are A Smoker
Unless you have used the Quitline or have officially taken a patch off of your arm, smoking can be a big turn off. Lying about smoking to someone that doesn't, can be just as much as a turn-off as actually smoking in front of them.

What You Want Out Of The Relationship
Fadal says that if you are only looking for an occasional date now and then, don't tell the other person you are contemplating "settling down"! Focus on what you really want from a relationship.
