Hy-Vee Gets Rid of Employee Discount
The Iowa-based grocery store chain Hy-Vee is ending its employee discount. Employees do not seem to be too happy about Hy-Vee's latest decision. Officials from the grocery store say some employees abused the discount.
Effective Monday, February 20th, Hy-Vee grocery store employees lost their 10% employee discount. This benefit has been a part of the Hy-Vee employee package since December 2020.

Along with that discount, employees also received a 20% discount on dine-in orders at their restaurants, as well as a Hy-Vee Plus membership.
The "Employee Discount" page on the Hy-Vee website is no longer working. So, there is no word if the other perks have been pushed to the wayside as well.
According to a report from We Are Iowa, a company official confirmed that over the span of one-weekend multiple employees abused the discount. One of the claims involves one case of one employee discount being used in five states in the span of one hour.
Officials say they want to bring back the discount for employees eventually. The plan is to hopefully get it back sometime this summer. However, there is no official date set for it yet.
