Over 400,000 children are in foster care in the U.S. and here in Sioux Falls, The Foster Network is working hard to make sure that foster children have a Christmas.

That's because a number of kids in foster care never have.

You can help change that just by volunteering a few hours with The Foster Network.

Dakota News Now is reporting that,

This is the third year the nonprofit has done the Give Joy this Christmas program that collects a variety of gifts for children in foster care.

Volunteers are needed to help sort all of the gifts this week, but also in the future. The Foster Network needs volunteers every week who can give 3 to 4 hours of their time helping with the Closet area, volunteering at events (like the Give Joy Christmas program), and serving on their committees.

If you have some time to give to an organization that is making a difference in the Sioux Empire, see The Foster Network.

14 Grocery Shortages South Dakota May Deal With This Winter

It seems like grocery shopping has turned into a hit-and-miss experience across the Midwest. South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa have seen empty shelves next to fully stocked ones.

All the jelly you want, but no peanut butter, for example.

The fallout from the first year of the COVID pandemic is still with us. Add to that the effect of the war in Ukraine and weather disasters.

Disruptions to global shipping and the domestic supply chain mean that you may run into a situation where you don't know if all you need will be in stock.

Winter 2022-2023 is looking to deal with several possible shortages of some grocery store favorites.
