Giants to Cut Rudolph, Setting Up Possible Vikings Reunion

One of the more experienced and noteworthy Tight Ends in the National Football League is set to hit the open market for the second time in as many seasons, as the New York Giants are expected to release veteran Kyle Rudolph.

Per ProFootballTalk, Rudolph is expected to be released from the Giants following just one season with the team.

Last year, Rudolph caught 26 passes in 13 starts last season, totaling 257 yards and 1 touchdown. The yardage and touchdown totals were among the lowest of his career for a season.

Rudolph, 32, played his first 10 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, posting over 4,400 receiving yards and 48 touchdowns. The 48 scores rank 6th all time in franchise history and the most by a Tight End.

Now on the open market, we'll see what kind of interest Rudolph may get, as well as what kind of interest he may have in continuing his career.

One obvious potential landing spot could be a reunion with the Vikings. Minnesota is in need of a reliable option at the position, as Tyler Conklin and Irv Smith Jr. have yet to prove themselves as the 'every down starter.'

Conklin caught 61 passes last season for 593 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Irv Smith Jr. missed the season with a meniscus injury. Smith has 676 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns through 2 full seasons in the league.

Minnesota Vikings In The Super Bowl? Yep, I Can Remember All Four

It's that time of year, the time when everyone is talking about the NFL's upcoming Super Bowl.

It may be hard to believe, but there was a time when the Minnesota Vikings went to the Super Bowl.

And then they went again. And then again. And then again. Hey, we were one of the greatest teams of all time!

Unfortunately, it was the same time the Vikings lost the Super Bowl. And then again. And then again. And then again. Well, at least we must have been one of the second-best teams of all time!

For a whole lot of Vikings fans...you know, the ones who walk around with younger bones...the Vikings have never been to the Super Bowl.

Then there's the ol' dog that is me. I remember the first time... and the second... and the third... and the fourth.
