Gas Station Accidentally Sold Gas For $0.449 Instead of $4.49
This is a story that really raises some questions about ourselves. Let's say you go and fill up your tank. You know gas prices are some of the highest they've been in years, but when your tank is full, you see you only are paying $5 for a full tank. Do you drive off and say "Not MY problem," or do you go in and let the business know, and pay the price you're supposed to? I think we all have our answers, but wouldn't really know unless we were in the situation.
Chattanooga, Tennessee man by the name Henry Dehart noticed the prices were wrong when he filled up his gas tank with 12 gallons of premium gas, but his total was only $5.64.
Being a moral dude, Dehart went inside and brought the issue to the owner's attention, who realized the prices had been that low for two hours.
“There’s no telling how much money he lost today. He was on the verge of tears,” DeHart said.
The owner of Mr. Zip quickly fixed the prices before things got out of hand.
“What I find most frustrating about this is that this man with the guts to own a small business would get screwed over by people for half of [the] day,” DeHart said. “How many people this morning thought, it’s my lucky day, while this man was getting taken to the cleaners?”
Dehart gave the gas station what he felt he owed. He said it wasn't enough to cover all of the losses the business had, but it was the right thing to do.
