It was district championship night on Thursday night as four teams punched their tickets to the state tournament in Brookings.

The Harrisburg Tigers have had an interesting road to get to this point. Harrisburg started the season 2-8 in the first half of their schedule, to then rally and go 8-2 to finish. Entering district play, they were going to have a tough task in front of them with Sioux Falls Washington and Lincoln.

"When we were 2-8 we were saying all the cliches in the book. The girls bought in. I can't say enough about them. It's all them. They really have come together and never gave up." - Nick Mayer, Harrisburg Head Coach

Mayer's team is now off to the state tournament for the second year in a row after defeating Lincoln 69-50. The Tigers are only in their second year of being in Class AA, and we're lead by Danni Honner's 24 points. Bailey Bruggeman and Sam Slaughter both had 12, and Jordan Beiswanger added 11 for the Tigers.

Lincoln's Izzy Vanveldhuizen had 19 points for the Patriots, while Ellie Brecht had 14. The Patriots now will play in a regional final on Saturday night in a win-and-in situation against Roosevelt.
