The loss of so many jobs across the country is adding more unimaginable trauma to an already excruciating situation. One of the most painful positions numerous individuals and families are finding themselves in, many for the first time, is being short on food.

It is for that very reason that Feeding South Dakota, in partnership with the Helpline Center, Faith Temple Food Giveaway, Corona Help Sioux Falls and the Salvation Army, are pooling their resources to host centralized food distributions twice a week at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds, every Tuesday and Thursday, from noon to 8 PM, during the pandemic.

Individuals and families are eligible to receive food every other week and are asked to pre-register at Helplinecenter.org/foodsf or by calling 211.

People are asked not to come early, as everyone will receive the same amount of food. You need to enter the fairgrounds using the south entrance off of Lyon Boulevard. Food distributions will include a box of non-perishable food items and fresh produce, frozen food and dairy products, when available.

In addition to this food resource, the Salvation Army pantry is still open, and Faith Temple will continue their food giveaways on Fridays at the Nordstrom-Johnson building which is also at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.

For more information, call 211, go to Helplinecenter.org/foodsf, or Feeding South Dakota.
