It’s never too early to begin planning for Independence Day. The City of Sioux Falls is seeking entrants for the Fourth of July Parade to help celebrate the nation’s birthday. Local businesses, civic organizations, military groups, marching bands, clubs, and others are encouraged to participate in the event.

The Fourth of July Family Parade and Picnic is one of my favorite events. Our city celebrates our country’s independence in an incredibly special way. Join in the fun this year by having a parade entry!” - Mayor Mike Huether

Parade entry check-in is at the intersection of Main Avenue and 10th Street at 7:30 a.m., and the parade starts at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 4, 2014. A free picnic at Falls Park will take place at 11 a.m. Last year’s parade was a huge success with nearly 80 entries from every part of our community and a crowd of more than 5,000 people.

Children also are invited to decorate their bicycles and participate in the event. Lineup for child entrants begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Sioux Falls Transit parking lot at Sixth Street and Weber Avenue. No preregistration is necessary for kids’ entries.

Parade entrant registration information can be found at www.siouxfalls.org/parade. For more information about all of the day’s festivities, go to www.siouxfalls.org/july4.
