Dolly Parton’s Book Club Will Send Your Child a Free Book Every Month
Dolly Parton is a class act. She has a huge personality and even a bigger heart. I've loved Dolly's music since I was a kid and was able to see her in concert at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center last year. The concert didn't have a huge stage set up of flashy pyrotechnics, but it was still one of the best concerts I've ever seen. She told stories about growing up poor in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. Although she's rich and famous, she doesn't forget her humble background. Here childhood experiences are what inspired her to start "Dolly Parton's Imagination Library" in 1995. Dolly started the charity to provide books and the love of reading to children in her home county in Tennessee.
Dolly's vision was to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families by providing them with the gift of a specially selected book each month. By mailing high quality, age-appropriate books directly to their homes, she wanted children to be excited about books and to feel the magic that books can create. Moreover, she could ensure that every child would have books, regardless of their family’s income.
Your child from birth to age five can receive a free age-appropriate book delivered to your house every month from Imagination Library. Register your child here.
To date, over 72 million free books have been delivered throughout four countries in the past 22 years.
