Coronavirus cases have doubled in South Dakota in the last seven days.

According to the South Dakota Department of Health, another 143 cases of COVID-19 were found in the state. 131 of those were from Minnehaha County. Six came from Lincoln County, and single new cases were found in Hamlin, Jerauld, Lake, Moody, and Pennington counties.

Minnehaha County now has 1,065 cases of the virus. 42 more were reported to have recovered for a total of 221. Across the state, 373 people have recovered from COVID-19.

733 of the total cases are related to the outbreak at the Smithfield plant. 80 of the new cases were employees from the plant.

The number of patients currently hospitalized is not available, but four more people were admitted in the last 24 hours for a total of 55 people who were or are currently been in the hospital for the disease.

There was also one new death from COVID-19 reported was from Minnehaha County. Seven people have died from the virus.
