Chase Elliott Wins NASCAR Race at Talladega Superspeedway

The battle between Ford and Chevrolet has always been a classic in auto racing, and we got more of that on Sunday (4/28). The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series was at the legendary track Talladega Superspeedway for the GEICO 500 on Sunday.

Talladega, at 2.66 miles, is the biggest track on the NASCAR circuit. The Ford powered race cars coming into Sunday had won seven consecutive races at the track.

But that win streak was broken by the Chevrolet driven by Chase Elliott. Elliott got out front in a four lap shootout to the finish. Then with Kyle Larson's car rolling over multiple times behind him, Elliott crossed the finish line for the victory with the race under caution.

The last time a Chevy won a Cup race was last fall at Kansas Speedway. And up until now, Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing has won all of the races so far for the 2019 season. But this win goes to Hendrick Motorsports.

Teammate Alex Bowman came in right behind in second. Chevrolet cars actually took four of the top five spots as rookie drivers Ryan Preece and Daniel Hemric ran third and fifth respectively. One Ford was in there, with Joey Logano finishing fourth. See where your driver came in.
