Cardi B Addresses Fans After Met Gala Fight: ‘I Don’t Know What Are People’s Intentions’
A night designed to appreciate beauty — the 2018 Met Gala — took an ugly turn Monday night (May 7) when members of Cardi B's entourage got into a physical fight with a fan who tried to relentlessly snap photographs. But Cardi B has finally spoken out on the incident, and tried to help fans understand the difficult position she's in.
In a since-deleted tweet caught by People the rapper posted Tuesday night (May 8), Cardi tried to explain that throngs of fans approaching her can often register as a threat, particularly when she's pregnant.
“If you check my tag pics i take a lot of pics with fans .Some people are not fans &sometimes i don’t want no pics and i simply don’t want people too close cause of [my pregnancy],” she wrote. “i don’t know what are people’s intentions sooo i Be careful .Why can’t people respect that?”
TMZ first reported that as Cardi was walking out of the The Mark Hotel Monday, a fan hounded the rapper for an autograph. She didn't stop and neither did he — finally, Offset warned "Shut up, bro, before a n---- beat you out here."
The man then replied: "Please beat me up! Be a fool, man."
And, well, Cardi's entourage obliged, though TMZ makes a point to say Offset was not actually involved in the scuffle. Two men seemed to punch the man relentlessly until he was left with some brutal-looking injuries.
