Back in 2012, Billboard Magazine changed their metrics in determining song popularity.  In the process, multiple platforms would factor into the impact a song would have.

The result became a 24-week chart run for Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart from late 2012 through early 2013  As staggering as that may sound, that mark is child’s play compared to the song that continues to hold a vise grip on the top entry on the Hot Christian Songs grid.

The group is an Australian worship band called Hillsong United.  As of the Billboard survey for the upcoming August 23 issue, their song “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” is spending its 38th week at number 1.

Most music lovers are familiar with FGL, one of the instigators of the “bro-country” movement.  So if you wish to partake of this Christian music phenomenon check the following sample.

By the way, the Billboard Hot 100 standard-bearer is the Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men effort "One Sweet Day" that spent a comparatively paltry 16 weeks on top in 1994 and 1995.
