The Best Ranch Dressing in Sioux Falls? We Asked, You Answered
Sometimes things happen, and you don't know why. One minute you're watching the last episode of Ironheart on Disney Plus with your daughter, it's an excellent show by the way.
And the next minute, you are in the middle of a serious conversation about where to find the best ranch dressing in Sioux Falls. The debate was so intense that we had to include the rest of the family.
A Family Debate Sparks a Citywide Search for the Best Ranch
We couldn't come to a consensus. My daughter championed her fave, the ranch from Runza restaurants. We can't visit family in Nebraska without a stop at this Cornhusker staple, the Culver's of cabbage burgers. But, it wasn't a Sioux Falls place, so she was out.
Speaking of Culver's, that was my wife's pick. Even though she's a blue cheese snob and thinks she's sooooo cool on wing night.
My son chose Freddy's Fry Sauce because he doesn't like ranch and is a smart aleck. So, he was out too.
And I chose the ranch that came with a vegetable platter from HyVee I had one time. I don't know, but don't think it's their store brand from the sauce aisle. It's like a deli brand. It was the perfect balance of creamy, dill, and magic dust (I don't know the recipe).
The History of Ranch Dressing
There was a time when the world didn't have ranch dressing. This time is known as the pre-ranch dark ages. But in 1950, a Nebraska native was working as a cook in Alaska. Because it was Alaska, fresh stuff was hard to come by. So this wizard mixed up the first batch of the magical potion that we know as ranch dressing, combining powdered buttermilk with dried herbs and spices.
His name was Steve Henson. After his stint in Alaska, Henson and his wife moved to a ranch in California and ran a steakhouse where his concoction gained worldwide fame. And the ranch became known as "Hidden Valley."

Sioux Falls’ Most Loved Ranch
Since we couldn't agree, I turned it over to you on social media to tell us where you think the best ranch in Sioux Falls is.
In a stunning hometown victory, Fryn' Pan's ranch got the most votes. I guess a couple of generations of late-night app samplers can't be wrong.
