Andy and Tasha’s South Dakota Commercials

The state produced a TV commercial that was supposed to promote South Dakota by saying that it's better than living on Mars. It has been mocked by Jimmy Fallon and half the Internet.

We were as confused by the comparison to Mars as well. I get they were trying to say that South Dakota isn't just a barren wasteland, like Mars, and hey, we've got oxygen like Mars does not, but it wasn't really enticing. It got people talking about the ad, but it could have been for any state.

We're radio people so we each did our own radio commercials to promote the state in much the same way the state's ad did. To be clear, we like South Dakota and live here intentionally.
