10 of the Worst Celebrity Mugshots in Hollywood History
Celebrity mugshots are basically a rite of passage in Tinseltown. But while some stars look just as good with that awful grey background as they do on a red carpet, others are a bit less glamorous.
Let's stroll down memory lane, where we'll snicker at some of the most unflattering photos in Hollywood history -- and revisit the transgressions that led to these pics being taken in the first place.

Jaime Pressly
The 'My Name Is Earl' actress failed a field sobriety test in January 2011 and earned herself a DUI mark on her driving record. It's tough for Pressly to look anything but gorgeous, but those famous cheekbones made her face look especially gaunt in the poor lighting of a police photo shoot.

Randy Travis
The country star was busted in August 2012 when he was found naked after crashing his car. The 53-year-old was charged with DUI and threatening law enforcement officers and posted a $21,500 bond, which hopefully went towards corrective eye surgery for the officers who had to witness Travis in the buff.

Mischa Barton
'The O.C.' actress was arrested in 2007 on a drunk driving charge for straddling two lanes of traffic and failing to signal when making a turn. Maybe since she was born in England, she just didn't know which side of the road she was supposed to be on. Regardless, we haven't heard all that much from her since.

Shaun White
White was arrested by police in Tennessee in September 2012, and the Olympic snowboarder was charged with vandalism and public intoxication after trashing his room, setting off a fire alarm, and getting into a fight with someone who tried to stop him from fleeing. He's almost unrecognizable with his trademark curly red hair pulled back, but that shiner proves he had one helluva night.

Amanda Bynes
Bynes earned her mugshot in 2012 after the troubled starlet clipped a police car (bad form, Amanda, bad form) and wound up with a DUI charge. Afterwards, she hilariously took to Twitter and told President Obama that he should fire the arresting officer because "I don't drink." In other words, she wasn't drunk -- she drives that badly sober.

Robert Downey Jr.
Downey's storied past as a substance user resulted in a lot of mugshots, but this one was taken in 2000 after he was arrested in Palm Springs for drug possession. He's long since turned his life around and is now one of the most liked and respected actors in the biz, but still ... don't do drugs, kids. Just don't.

Heather Locklear
The bombshell was arrested in September 2008 after a witness called 911 and reported her driving erratically on a California highway, after which cops pulled Locklear over and eventually cited her for driving under the influence of prescription drugs. She could use a hairbrush and some lipstick, but we've admittedly looked worse after a night of debauchery.

Bill Gates
The Microsoft co-founder and denizen of dozens of "wealthiest people in the history of ever" lists was arrested in Albuquerque, N.M. for a traffic violation back in 1977. The details have reportedly been lost to time so the situation couldn't have been too serious (or the particulars disappeared from a computer database for reasons that we're sure are completely legal and above-board, ahem). Regardless, the groovy '70s-tastic photo has lived on, providing decades of amusement.

Snooki
Everyone's favorite drunken munchkin was arrested for disorderly conduct in July 2010 while filming 'Jersey Shore.' As we later saw on the show, a snockered Snooki ran down the boardwalk asking people, "Where's the beach?!" when it was literally right in front of her. Then she face-planted in the sand, and as cops handcuffed her and dragged her down the boardwalk, she cried out, "I'm a good person!" Reality TV gold.

Nick Nolte
The esteemed actor's infamous 2002 mugshot for DUI is so awful that it's probably been shown in countless anti-alcoholism seminars. The Coolio hair (something a white boy should never, ever sport) is bad enough, but his colorful attire made one commenter on the Smoking Gun website say, "I think he bought that shirt under the influence as well."
