Throwback Thursday: ‘A Moment Like This’ by Kelly Clarkson (2002)

American Idol comes to an end tonight after a 15 year run, but it all started way back in 2002 with the very first American Idol! The one and only, Kelly Clarkson.

"A Moment Like This" debuted on the finale of the first season of American Idol. While it isn't Kelly's biggest hit to date, it was the first.

The song went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. "A Moment Like This" was also included on Kelly Clarkson's debut album, Thankful.

"A Moment Like This" was written for the finale of American Idol, so four versions of the song exist. The top four recorded the song, just in case they won. Kelly's obviously is the one we've come to know and love, but Justin Guarini, Tamyra Gray, and Nikki McKibbin all recorded it as well.

The video was kept pretty simple, just Kelly walking around an abandoned theater and singing with clips of Idol mixed in. However, I would say the clip from the finale of the show where Kelly is crying through most of the song, is what we all really remember. So here are both versions.
