JCPenney To Close 40 Stores in 2015 Including One In South Dakota
In an effort to reduce costs, JCPenney plans to close approximately 40 of its department stores this year. According to NBCNews.com:
By shuttering underperforming stores, retailers are able to cut costs in an environment when more sales are taking place online.
The JCPenney store in the Lakewood Mall in Aberdeen is one of the casualties. No closing date was confirmed, but JCPenney expects most of the stores on the list to close by April 4, 2015.
