Five Year Old Girl Dies at Falls Park

A five year old girl is dead after falling into the water at Falls Park.

The incident happened around noon on Sunday March 18. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was called along with two Urban Search and Rescue units.

The first arriving crew was told there was a five-year-old female who fell into the water. Two rescue swimmers were deployed into the water and began to break the ice where she was last seen. She was found unresponsive and pulseless by the rescue swimmers shortly after deployment and transferred to Paramedics Plus for patient care. Unfortunately, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and she was later pronounced dead.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by the Sioux Falls Police Department and Paramedics Plus Ambulance during this event.
