UPDATE (7/22, 9:30 a.m. PT): Per an update to the initial report via TMZ, the artist told law enforcement: "At around 4:25 AM Sunday, he was a passenger in a Chevy Tahoe at a Brooklyn intersection, sitting at a red light, when a car bumped them from behind. He told cops 2 men with guns jumped out, stole the driver's iPhone and then grabbed Tekashi and dragged him into their car and sped away."

The criminals proceeded to Tekashi's home where he summoned someone from inside, presumably the mother of his child, to relinquish his jewels to the gunmen. Sources say the rapper sought hospital care for his wounds, though he failed to comply with authorities to whom he reported the crime. Insiders are unsure how he sustained his injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY: Tekashi 6ix9ine was reportedly kidnapped, pistol-whipped, robbed, and is currently seeking medical treatment as a result of the episode that occurred early this morning.

Sources told TMZ, who broke the report Sunday (July 22), the 22-year-old emcee returned to his home at around 4 a.m. after shooting a music video in Brooklyn when he realized another vehicle had blocked his driveway. Three hooded gunmen got out of the automobile, grabbed and beat Tekashi with a handgun until he was unconscious.

The criminals then threw the star into the back seat and drove around before threatening to kill the rapper if they did not get the items they demanded, presumably Tekashi's money and jewelry. Shortly after, two of the assailants would ransack the artist's residence and leave with $750K in jewelry and an estimated $15K - $20K in cash, according to insider reports per TMZ.

The mother of the controversial musician's child and his daughter were both present but unharmed during the home invasion.

Tekashi, still restrained to the back seat, somehow managed to unfetter himself and escape through the car's back door. A gunman supposedly chased after him before fleeing back to the vehicle for fear of being identified.

Insiders assert the rapper hopped into the passenger seat of a stranger's vehicle and begged for help. The driver alerted authorities and made Tekashi get out at an intersection.

Tekashi is currently undergoing various medical tests as a process of his recovery.

The performer, whose birth name is Daniel Hernandez, rose to hip-hop stardom on SoundCloud. In his career, Tekashi has held feuds with rappers like Trippie Redd and Chief Keef and is often lauded for the gang culture depicted in his music.
