PIERRE - The Pierre School Board has approved the purchase of $1.3 million worth of computers for students and school district staff.

KCCR radio reports that the purchase includes more than 900 tablet computers for the high school, continuing a program that gives each student his or her own PC.

Laptops eventually will be bought for middle school and elementary students, though they will not be individual computers.
