Iowa vs. Troy: How To Watch The Hawks’ Final Nonconference Game
When you reference a homestand, especially one that lasts three games, you're typically referring to a baseball team and a portion of their schedule. Instead, we're talking about the Iowa Hawkeyes wrapping up a 3-game homestand to kick off their 2024 season.
After a disappointing loss to in-state rivals Iowa State last Saturday, the Hawkeyes are no longer nationally ranked heading into week 3. The Cyclones took back the Cy-Hawk trophy after Iowa State's kicker Kyle Konrardy knocked in a 54-yard field goal with 5-seconds left to put the Clones on top and win the game 20-19.
Now that it's a "Cyclone state" for the next year, it's time for Hawkeye fans to move on with the rest of the season. To wrap up their non-conference play, the Hawks will take on Troy in Iowa City this Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans are coming into Iowa City with a 0-2 record. Troy -- out of the Sun Belt Conference -- barely lost to Nevada in week 1 but was handled by Memphis in week 2.
It should be a cakewalk for the Hawkeyes this Saturday, but you never know with the Hawks. If Iowa can maintain momentum going into the second half and stop playing prevent offense, this should be another blowout like they did to Illinois State in week 1.
