The Field of Dreams Will Be Showcased on an Iowa PBS Show
A new Iowa PBS show has captivated viewers since its premiere earlier this spring. After the show profiled several attractions and landmarks in Dubuque last month, it will feature another Tri-States destination on an upcoming episode slated to air in early June.
The new series, Road Trip Iowa, takes you on an adventure through the state of Iowa from the comfort of your own home. According to a release from Iowa PBS' website, the new, weekly travel show goes "across Iowa's scenic byways, showcasing the historic sites, unique attractions, and natural beauty" to be found all over the state.
Merely weeks after the show's episode revolving around Dubuque premiered, Road Trip Iowa will be taking viewers to Dyersville to see the Field of Dreams movie site!
Tri-Staters need no introduction to the Field of Dreams movie site. They've grown up knowing about its place in the culture, and the recent presence of the MLB at the movie site for the annual "Field of Dreams Game" has only strengthened the destination's popularity from coast to coast.
Beyond the movie site, the episode will highlight several other stops along the Delaware Cross Scenic Byway, including:
- Manchester Whitewater Park
- Baileys Ford Nature Center
- Manchester Fish Hatchery
- Lake Delhi
- Lenox College
- Backbone State Park
Per a press release, Road Trip Iowa will also explore "the flattened prairie down the Jefferson Highway Heritage Byway, catches the stunning Mississippi River views on the Great River Road, drives through the Bohemian Alps on the Iowa Valley Scenic Byway, and discovers the best places to stop along your journey."
How to Watch Road Trip Iowa:
The Dyersville-centric episode of Road Trip Iowa will premiere Wednesday, June 5th at 6:30pm and be rebroadcast on Saturday, June 8th at 9am. Beyond its terrestrial airings, you can livestream Iowa PBS at this link and via the PBS App, Local Now, YouTube TV, and Hulu + Live TV.
In the Dubuque episode of Road Trip Iowa, the show explored Pike's Peak as well as:
- Lockmaster's House Heritage Museum
- The Driftless Area Education and Visitor's Center
- The Effigy Mounds National Monument
- Mohn's Fish Market
- The Fenelon Place Elevator in Dubuque
- Catfish Charlie's in Dubuque
- The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque
- The Dubuque Street Art Trail
One of the unique elements about this show is that it doesn't seem to explore common tourist attractions in Iowa. Even an Iowa PBS spokesperson said the goal of the show is to take viewers "off the interstate:"
