‘A Winner’ Minnesota RB Aaron Jones Praises Young QB JJ McCarthy
If Aaron Jones has it his way in Minnesota this season, he and young quarterback JJ McCarthy will be spending a lot of time together on the field in leading roles for the Vikings.
McCarthy is gearing up for year #2 in the league after being sidelined last year due to a knee injury.
He appears to be the clear frontrunner for the starting job as the depth chart currently stands, and veteran Running Back Aaron Jones heaped some praise on the youngster.

Per ProFootballTalk:
“J.J.’s a winner,” Jones said. “If you look from high school through his time in college, he’s lost one career game. He came in [and] in his short time there, he was balling. The preseason, he ended up getting hurt, unfortunately. But I think it might’ve been a quarterback battle if he didn’t get hurt. He’s different. He’s a competitor. He wants to be great and he’s hungry.
“So, I think you’ll see it when he steps on the field.”
It's inspiring commentary from the veteran on the young quarterback. Perhaps even more importantly, from a veteran running back that once consistently suited up next to Aaron Rodgers.
Jones and McCarthy both are gearing up for year number two with the organization, and the Vikings have added a ton of talent this offseason in free agency. The team added to the running back room recently in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers to acquire Jordan Mason, and made several other impact moves earlier on in the free agency frenzy.
Minnesota will surely be 'in the mix' in the very competitive NFC North this season, and Jones and McCarthy's health and performance will both be crucial for the team's success on the field.
The Vikings hold pick #24 in the first round of this year's NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The NFL Draft takes place from Thursday, April 24th through Saturday, April 26th.
