The latest step in removing a damaged bridge that spans the border of South Dakota and Iowa is complete.

Monday morning (August 19), crews from BNSF Railway used a controlled explosion to take down what was left of the railroad bridge on the North Sioux City side of the Big Sioux River.

Sioux City TV station KCAU captured footage of the blast.

The bride was first damaged during the massive flooding that hit the area back in June.

The portion of the bridge on the Iowa side of the river will be taken down with a second controlled explosion sometime in September.
