South Dakota Hy-Vee Stores Issue Recall on Pot Roast Meals
If you purchased a Mealtime Beef Pot Roast Dinner recently from a Hy-Vee store, you should probably tap the brakes on throwing that guy in the oven or microwave.
Dakota News Now is reporting that Hy-Vee chain based out of West Des Moines, Iowa has issued a voluntary recall on two different varieties of its Hy-Vee Mealtime Beef Pot Roast Dinners due to the presence of an undeclared wheat allergen.
In a statement released by Hy-Vee on Wednesday (January 18), the store claims the gravy mix used in meals produced between December 26, 2022, and January 17, 2023, contains a wheat allergen not listed on the ingredients label.
This announcement is a precautionary measure since no one as of the time the announcement was made has reported adverse reactions due to consumption of the product.
According to Dakota News Now, the entrees were distributed to Hy-Vee’s grocery stores, Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh stores, and Dollar Fresh Market stores in an eight-state region that includes, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
The meals were packaged in small to medium plastic containers with clear lids and were available for purchase between December 27, 2022, and January 17, 2023.
If you have a sensitivity to wheat-based products, the Hy-Vee stores recommend you toss the meals in the trash, or you can return them to your neighborhood Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
If you consumed one of these products prior to the announcement, and have possible concerns and questions, Hy-Vee suggests that you reach out to your healthcare provider for answers regarding the consumption of the meals.
