One of South Dakota’s Hidden Dining Gems is 50 Miles North of Sioux Falls
Every state in the nation is known for its hidden gems. A place or thing that is unique to a specific city or region within the state itself.
South Dakota certainly has its fair share of hidden gems. Some of the obvious gems would have to be things like Wall Drug, Custer State Park, the World's Only Corn Palace in Mitchell, the Badlands, Sica Hollow State Park, and, of course, Mount Rushmore National Monument out in the Black Hills.
But how about when it comes to eating establishments? South Dakota has a long, and I do mean long, list of unique, original, and delectable diners and restaurants scattered throughout the state.

Now, I'm not talking about the usual run-of-the-mill national chain restaurants—lord knows we have plenty of those—I'm referring to the eateries that are 100% pure South Dakota—little hidden gems you can't find anywhere else.
Let me begin by saying I love all types of cuisine. But, I've always been a burger kinda guy. I have always had a special place in my stomach for a tasty burger.
Personally, one of my favorite hidden gems when it comes to burger joints is about 50 miles north of Sioux Falls.
If you're from the Rushmore State, you already know who I will mention. It's gotta be Nick's Hamburger Shop on Main Avenue, in Brookings, right?
Sure, it might not look like much from the outside, but they more than make up for their lack of aesthetics with the mouthwatering sliders they sell.

Nick's has been serving burgers hot off the grill in South Dakota since 1929. Made-to-order burgers with fresh, never frozen beef, on a homemade bun. Nick's has a secret recipe, which, in my opinion, helps to make them a South Dakota hidden gem.
You can't leave Nick's without trying one of their homemade milkshakes and a piece of homemade pie! I'm gaining about 5 pounds just thinking about it!
Nick's burgers, you can buy 'em by the bag.
So whether from or just visiting South Dakota, you have to give Nick's Hamburger Shop in Brookings a try if you're the type of person who loves a tasty burger.
Nick's Hamburger Shop is open Monday-Friday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
It's definitely a South Dakota hidden gem.
