Sioux Falls residents should be aware of two upcoming road construction projects that will affect traffic flow in different parts of the city.

Holly Avenue Street and Sidewalk Closure

Starting Friday, November 21, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., South Holly Avenue will be completely closed to through traffic between 39th Street and 41st Street.

Motorists will need to use South Elmwood Avenue as a detour route. Pedestrians should note that sidewalk access will be limited to the west side of Holly Avenue during this closure.

First Rate Excavate will be installing a new underground utility connection in this area. The project is expected to wrap up within one week, with all traffic controls removed upon completion.

14th Street Lane and Sidewalk Closure

Beginning Monday, November 24, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., the outside westbound lane of East 14th Street will be closed between Cliff Avenue and Seventh Avenue.

The closure will remain in effect until the end of the day on Monday, December 8, 2025. During this two-week period, the north sidewalk will be closed, and pedestrians should use the south sidewalk instead.

Xcel Energy will be conducting utility work throughout this timeframe.

Safety Reminder

For both construction zones, drivers are strongly encouraged to exercise caution, reduce speeds when passing through work areas, and consider using alternate routes to avoid delays.
