Sioux Falls to Savor Unique Pork Creations During ‘Downtown Pork Showdown’
The Sioux Empire is preparing to pig out this month!
October is National Pork Month, and Downtown Sioux Falls is celebrating in the most delicious way possible: with the return of the Downtown Sioux Falls Pork Showdown. More than 25 of downtown’s finest restaurants are rolling up their sleeves, sharpening their knives, and preparing to go hog wild during a month-long battle for pork supremacy.
25 different downtown Sioux Falls restaurants will serve up a unique, pork-packed creation.

Take La Luna Café on North Phillips Avenue, for example. Manager Tatiana Jaimes told Dakota News Now, “We wanted to bring a Hispanic flair to it, making a traditional al pastor taco into a pizza, making the avocado lime salsa, red salsa, marinating the pork in a medley of spices, it’s really good.”
Throughout October, local chefs will be facing off in a friendly but fierce culinary competition to see who can create the most creative, mouthwatering pork dish. You, yes, you, get to play judge and jury. Try as many dishes as you can, then cast your vote for your favorite on the DTSF Digital Passport.
Some of the restaurants competing for the crown include Big Sioux Burger, Blarney Stone, Bread & Circus Sandwich Kitchen, Chef Lance’s on Phillips, Crawford’s Bar & Grill, Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Ode to Food and Drinks, PAve, Phillips Avenue Diner, Remedy Brewing Company, and Shenanigan’s Downtown, among others.
